Taurus Cup

Taurus Cup, or the 13th Champions Meeting (CM13), brings us back to the first CM track, Tokyo 2400m (Left, Firm, Sunny, Spring).

This CM is based off of the Japanese Derby: For players attempting to complete the Classic Triple Crown, this will be the last opportunity to run the Japanese Derby until CM31, the last CM in the U.A.F., Ready, GO! Scenario.

Acceleration

Similar to the previous CM, the late-race begins on Corner 3. This means that every corner-based Acceleration Skill, such as Angling and Scheming, Let's Pump Some Iron!, and Moving Past, and Beyond are viable.

One key difference in this CM is that the final Corner is only 25 meters delayed. Therefore, Maruzensky’s Unique Skill, Red Shift/LP1211-M, can also be taken. Due to its lenient Positional Requirement of 1-5, it should be taken regardless of Style.

WARNING

Depending on lobby composition, Moving Past, and Beyond and Let's Pump Some Iron! may be difficult to activate. These Skills have a positional requirement for 5-6th and 6th, respectively: If there are many Debuffers or Backliners, Umas can get easily shoved out of position for these Uniques.

In addition, due to the Corner 3 only being 25 meters into the late-race, Umas must be fifth or sixth as they enter late-race in order to activate Moving Past, and Beyond, making the Activation Condition more strict.

As the Straight is heavily delayed, Skills that activate on these Track Features such as Straightaway Spurt are not recommended.

Outside of inherited Accels, the most universal Acceleration Skill available is Nimble Navigator / No Stopping Me!. While this Skill is still somewhat consistent, it is less so than the previous CM due to the proximity of the final Corner to the start of late-race.

WARNING

Outside of Umas such as Mayano Top Gun who have the Skill through Potentials, No Stopping Me! can only be acquired through the use of Yukino Bijin, a weak Wit SSR. If the rest of the Deck is not strong enough to make up for using this Card, borrowing a stronger Card and acquiring Nimble Navigator through other means is recommended.

Velocity Skills

There are two Velocity Skills that are important to consider for CM13: Uma Stan and 1,500,000 CC.

Similar to many previous CMs, CM13 is on a Track that is longer than 2200m. This means that Section 1 takes longer than 5 seconds to exit, and Uma Stan will cancel PDM when activated immediately. Although the effect of this PDM cancel is much lower than the previous Long CMs, the early No-Zone makes any and all leads gained early important.

A more interesting Skill is 1,500,000 CC, a Late Surger Skill that can activate at any Uphill. Because Tokyo 2400m has three Uphills, one of which occurs immediately as the Race starts, there is a one in three chance that 1,500,000 CC activates at the start of the Race, instantly breaking Gate PDM and providing a large lead over everyone else. Strong Front Runners or Runaways can be used to then preserve this lead.

Even if the Skill doesn’t activate on the first Uphill, the second Uphill occurs immediately after the end of Position Keep, ensuring that the Velocity Skill is fully utilized. The final Uphill occurs in the late-race, supplementing much-needed late-race Velocity.

WARNING

Velocity Skills that activate on the final Corner, such as Speed Star or The Duty of Dignity Calls, will likely trigger while the Uma is still accelerating. Since she will still be accelerating, the increased Target Speed will mostly go to waste.

CM13 Recommended Stats

CM13 Recommended Stats

Compared to the previous CM, the Stamina requirement is very high, necessitating around 800 Stamina and a Gold Recovery Skill. Front Runners should have slightly more Stamina, while Late Surgers and End Closers can have slightly less.

Stamina is especially important this CM, as the long final Straight will mean that Umas will be dueling for a long duration. Dueling can only be entered while having more than 15% HP, and will be exited when dropping below 5%. For the same reason, higher Guts is also recommended.

In lieu of a proper Gold Recovery, Radiant Star is acceptable if you are slightly above the recommended Stamina. There is a slight risk it may proc too late to be useful, but these odds are low enough that you may benefit more from bringing a stronger Deck.

The recommended Deck for CM13 is the standard 2 SPD 2 WIT 2 Flex Deck. Because of the high Stamina requirement, Stamina Cards can be considered for Umas without innate Gold Recovery Skills. Otherwise, the Flex Slots are the same as the last CM.

One option is bringing additional Cards for meeting Stat goals. For players with weaker Decks, filling these slots with more Speed and Wit Cards or Cards such as the new Team Sirius Group Card will make it easier to hit Statlines.

If meeting Stat goals isn’t a problem, an alternative is using SSR Cards for their Gold Skills. A few examples are El Condor Pasa for Killer Tunes, Yaeno Muteki for It's On! and various useful Skill Hints, Yukino Bijin for No Stopping Me!, Marvelous Sunday for Fast & Furious, and Daitaku Helios for Escape Artist.

WARNING

Many of these Skills are Style-dependent, even if not specified in the skill description. For example, Killer Tunes has a requirement of being in the first 50% of the Race, making it difficult to use on Late Surgers and End Closers.

Due to the importance of Dueling, Guts Decks can also be considered. Different Card combinations can be taken based on the Uma’s Stat Growths, but the basic framework of Guts Deck is 1 SPD 3 GUT 2 WIT. The main weakness of Guts Decks is that Gold Skills are more difficult to acquire comparatively, but Skills can still be sourced from Speed and Wit Cards such as Kitasan Black, Mihono Bourbon, and Mr. C.B..

Due to the abundance of available Acceleration Skills in CM13, most Umas are at least viable. Play your favorite characters!

WARNING

Due to the importance of Dueling on the long final Straight, Front Runners, who naturally have a harder time Dueling, are weaker in CM13.
