Admire Vega, the Umamusume.

Agemasen

Describes a Support Card Chain Event failing to complete, or failing a failable final Chain Event.

Origin: A scene in Umamusume Season 2, where Special Week denies Mejiro McQueen in Teio's dream sequence.

Gained notoriety during CM1 and CM2, where the Special Week Speed SSR was used to obtain the skill Gourmand. This Card can sometimes give the white version, Hydrate, instead.

Backstretch

The straight on the opposite side from the crowd

Ballroom

Banner

Also known as:Gacha
The game's gacha System, split between Uma and Support Card Banners.

Banners often have better rates for specific Umas or Support Cards.

Base Target Speed

The lowest Target Speed for an Uma during any point in the Race.

Changes based on the phase of the Race.

Bermuda Triangle

Also known as:Bermuda
Refers to a team composition of three Umas with independent Acceleration Conditions. These Umas will enter the final Straight and Duel each other.

Often run as 3 Front or 2 Front 1 Pace.

A popular example is Silence Suzuka, Maruzensky, and Taiki Shuttle in CM7. Silence Suzuka accelerates from first, Maruzensky accelerates from second, and Taiki Shuttle accelerates from third.

Block

When an Uma is in front of a faster Uma, preventing them from Overtaking.

Bond

Also known as:Friendship
A value of 0 to 100 that is attributed to Support Cards and NPCs.

Support Cards unlock Friendship Training after 80 Bond.

NPC Bonds are important for Unique Skill and post-Career Events.

Bond is increased through Training and other Career Events.

Bowling Ball

When an Uma ahead runs out of HP and slows down to minimum speed, blocking the Uma behind her.

The positions of the Uma on the chart are relative to each other, an Uma slowing down will move backwards visually. Therefore, an Uma dying ahead looks like a Bowling Ball rapidly falling behind and knocking the Uma behind them down.

Broken

Colloquial term for something that is extremely strong.

Career

Also known as:Career RunRun
The main Roguelike gamemode of Umamusume.

Trainee Umas are trained across three years to create Veteran Umas.

Chain Event

The main Events of a Support Card, denoted by progress arrows.

Chain Events have a higher chance of showing up compared to regular Events.

SR Cards have 2 Chain Events, SSR Cards have 3 Chain Events.

Champions Meeting

Also known as:CMChanmi
The main 3v3v3 PvP Event of the game, with 2 Rounds and a Finals. Rounds can be advanced by winning once for Group B, and 3 wins for Group A. Two Leagues can be chosen: Open League for Umas Rank B or under, and Graded League for no restrictions.

Chariot

Also known as:I need smaru to drag me around on a leash
Refers to a team composition of two Front Runners and a third non-Front Runner.

This third Uma utilizes high Wit to enter Pace Up mode caused by the 2 Front Runners raising the Lobby Pace.

Guarantees a high Lobby Pace to prevent the third non-Front Runner from entering Pace Down mode from pushing up too far.

Charming

A Career Condition which increases Bond gain when Training by 2.

An Uma built mainly to use Debuff Skills.

Debut

The first Race in an Uma's Career.

This Race must be won before being able to run in any other Race.

Two or more runners begin Dueling in the final stretch of a race if they are engaged in a close struggle for the lead. Those with higher Guts are able to raise their speed more dramatically in such situations.

The first sixth of a Race.

Noted as phase=0 in Skill Conditions.

End Closers

Also known as:Oiko追込/Oikomichaser
A style where an Uma hangs in the very back of the pack, then commits to either a 'last-to-first' spurt in the Final Leg or an advancement to the front in the Middle Leg.

Energy

The primary resource used for actions during a Career.

Event

Uma, Scenario or Support-dependent conversations during a Career.

Events can have choices that result in different rewards.

Exhibition

Also known as:RoomsScrims
A PvP mode used to enter Room Matches against other players on custom Tracks.

Often used to prepare for upcoming PvP Events.

Represents what an Uma can see during a race. This can affect various vision based skills, such as All-Seeing Eyes.

Filly

Final Corner Velocity Stacking

Also known as:C4Velo Bomb
Stacking skills which activate on the Final Corner to massively increase Target Speed. Since Umas spread out on the final corner, it's the easiest place to overtake – especially for Backliners.

Foal

A newborn horse.

Friendship Training

Also known as:Rainbow TrainingRainbows
Occurs when a Support Card's Friendship Gauge is at least 80% full and appears on their respective Stat.

Rainbow rings appear around the Training and Support Card.

Friendship Training is boosted by that Support Card's Friendship Bonus modifier.

Front Runners

Also known as:逃げ/Nigerunner
A style where an Uma runs to the front of the pack immediately, and tries to maintain this lead for the entire race.

Frontline

Often used to refer to Front Runners.

Can also refer to Pace Chasers, depending on context.

Furlong

1/8th of a mile, 200m

Refers to Acceleration Skills with inconsistent Activation Conditions.

Gate

The location where Umas start the Race.

Give Up

Also known as:DoorGlue
Refers to exiting out of a Career.

Glue

Negative descriptor of a veteran Uma with poor Stats/Skills.

Gold Skill

Also known as:Rare Skills
An upgraded version of some normal Skills, represented in the Skill List with a gold outline.

Grand Live

Also known as:GL
The fourth Scenario of Umamusume.

Grandparent

Also known as:Sublegacy
The four Parent Umas of the two Parents.

Green Skill

Skills that increase Stats by a flat value.

Represented in-game with a green background.

Ground Condition

The state of the Ground caused by weather.

Can be Firm, Soft, Heavy, or Good.

Ground Type

The material of the Racetrack.

The Ground Type is either Turf or Dirt.

Homestretch

The last 1/6th of the race. The UI fades away and the music ramps up when entered.

Noted as phase=3 in Skill Conditions.

Hot Topic

A Career Condition that increases Bond when Training with NPCs by 40%.

HP

Represents how far an Uma can run before being forced into minimum speed. This value is determined by the Stamina Stat and the distance of the Race.

Where an Uma's Spurt starts in the late-race is also determined by how much HP she has. If she has insufficient HP at the start of the late-race, she will delay the spurt until a point where Spurting does not drop her HP past zero, excluding the final 60m.

Kidnapping

When an Uma, usually a Frontliner, Late Starts and is blocked by Backliners, and is forced to run the race from behind.

Lane

Sections split across the width of the Track.

The width of each Lane is course-dependent.

Last Spurt

The mode an Uma enters at the beginning of late-race, increasing her Target Speed to the Top Speed.

Late Race

A term encompassing both the Final Leg (Phase 2) and Last Spurt (Phase 3) of a race.

Late Surgers

Also known as:差し/Sashibetweener
A style where an Uma stays towards the back of the pack (between Pace Chasers and End Closers) until the Final Leg.

League of Heroes

Also known as:LoH
An alternate 3v3 12-Uma (6 player Uma and 6 NPCs) PvP Event where daily Races are played for points towards rankings and a server-wide Leaderboard.

Legend Races

A recurring PvE Event consisting of a Race against two to four predetermined Umas.

Used to obtain Star Shards of the specific Umas as well as Limit Break Crystal Shards.

Length

The length of a horse, or 2.5m.

Lengths

A unit of measurement used to describe distances between horses during a Race. This is equivalent to 2m in-game.

In real life, a Length is equivalent to 2.4m.

Mile

The second denominator of Race length.

Refers to Races between 1600m and 1999m.

Mood

The condition of an Uma split into four levels.

Mood affects Training gains and Stats during a Race.

Normal Mode

The mode an Uma is in when there are no Overtake targets or while in the No-Zone.

Umas generally line up at the inner lane, making Overtaking very difficult.

Pace Chaser

A style where an Uma stays towards the front of the pack (between Front Runners and Late Surgers) until the Final Leg.

Pace-Down Mode

Also known as:PDM
The mode an Uma enters when they are too far ahead relative to their Style during Position Keep.

Pacemaker

The Uma that determines the Pace Keeping mechanics of the Lobby.

Parent

Also known as:Legacy
The two main Umas selected for Inspiration.

Phase

Describes the current section of the Race.

The Race is split into four phases: the early-race, mid-race, Final Leg, and Last Spurt.

Racing Form/Program

Used to show the background and description of the horse.

In-game, this is the menu with the Uma's Stats browsable before a Race.

Recovery Skill

Skills that increase the HP of an Uma by a percentage.

Represented in-game by a blue background.

Recreation

A Career mechanic that increases Mood and Energy.

Has a 33% chance to roll any of the three possible options.

Rushed

A mode an Uma enters when behind the ideal position for their Style.

Increases HP drain and forces the Uma to change to a Style ahead of their own. Front Runners become subject to additional HP drain.

Secret Events

Uma-specific Events that activate when a hidden condition is met.

Often involves running specific Races.

Section

Refers to the unit of division of a Track.

Each section is 1/24th of any Track.

Senior Year

The final Year of a Career.

Solo Ace

Refers to a 1 Ace team composition.

The other two Umas are often built as Debuffers to funnel wins into the Ace.

Spark

A component of a Veteran Uma that determines what they will provide at the start of the Career and in an Inspiration Event.

Speed Carryover

Refers to starting the late-race with an increased Velocity due to the overlap of Velocity Skill duration and the Final Leg.

Spirit Burst

A Unity Cup specific mechanic which is unlocked after filling up a team member's Spirit Gauge.

Provides additional Stats and a Skill that corresponds to one of an Uma's A Aptitudes.

Spirit Gauge

A Unity Cup specific mechanic which is unlocked three Turns into a Unity Cup Career.

The Spirit Gauge fills up through Unity Training, completely filling at four.

Spot Struggle

When two or more Front Runners fight for the lead early in the Race.

Spot Struggling largely increases HP consumption.

Sprint

Also known as:Short
The smallest denominator of Race length.

Refers to Races shorter than 1600m.

Spurt Rate

The percentage chance an Uma is able to reach their highest potential Top Speed in the late-race.

Stallion

Male horse over the age of 4.

In-game, this is designated with a decoration on the Uma's right ear

Start Dash

The mode an Uma enters at the beginning of the Race.

Umas accelerate faster until almost reaching their Base Speed.

Starting Gate

A mobile, steel structure that horses start races in.

Straightaway Spurt

Support Card

Veteran

A representation of an Uma rewarded after a Career. Used in various gamemodes and as Legacies.

Vision Skill

Skills that affect the FoV of an Uma.

Represented in-game by an Uma with a cone ahead of her in the Skill icon.

White Skill

Represents the base version of a Skill, represented in the Skill List with a white outline.

Wide Swing

When an Uma chooses an outer lane when changing lanes at the final Corner. Consequently, the distance they have to run compared to an Uma near the inner rail is increased.

Win Condition

Also known as:Wincon
Refers to something that needs to happen for an Uma to win a Race.

Typically, this describes proper positioning for Acceleration Skills, such as being in sixth to proc Let's Pump Some Iron!.

Also often describes proc'ing Recovery Skills to not run out of HP.

Win/Place/Show

The three types of wagering in horse racing. Refers to Top 1/Top 2/Top 3 respectively.
