The Tracen Academy Property Survey
There are 143 R support cards across Global and JP. Between them they use twenty-seven backgrounds.
Sorting the catalogue by what is behind the character rather than the character herself produces a functioning map of Tracen Academy, and a distribution that would embarrass a housing officer. Fifteen cards share one footpath. The swimming pool has never appeared.

Tracen Academy, with every location that has at least one R card living in it.
Base map via r/umamusume, pins added by us.
Note: Outdoor locations can be matched to the map directly by building, path and treeline. Interior rooms cannot. The game has never confirmed which room sits in which wing, so interiors are assigned to the most plausible building and should be read as our best interpretation rather than established fact. If you think one has been filed in the wrong wing, the correction is welcome.
District 1: The Front Approach
Pins 1, 2 and 4. The distance from the front gate to the steps of the main building is a ninety-second walk. 31 cards, 21.7% of the catalogue, never get any further.

No ReasonThe tree-lined walk with the blue-roofed clock tower behind it, and the single most contested address in the game. Tokai Teio, Oguri Cap, Grass Wonder, Super Creek, Tamamo Cross, Twin Turbo, Kitasan Black, Inari One, K.S.Miracle and Dantsu Flame all occupy the same stretch of path. The avenue is also the only location repainted for multiple seasons, which accounts for the remaining five. Mejiro Bright, Sakura Laurel and Almond Eye hold the cherry blossom variant. Bubble Gum Fellow and No Reason hold the autumn one.
The Front Plaza (8 residents)
Fountain, statue, and the full width of the main facade. This is the prospectus photograph, and it is occupied almost entirely by launch-era cards holding a victory pose for no observable audience.
Outside of the Entrance (8 residents)
District 2: The Main Building
Pin 3, with the surrounding grounds at pins 5 and 6. Fifty-eight cards are attached to a single structure, which is 40.6% of the catalogue. Twenty-five of them are outdoors, standing next to it.

Daring TactThe Alley (6 residents)
Two of these assignments are unusually well judged. Manhattan Cafe's own profile describes her as keeping close to walls and speaking with the shadows, which is less a characterisation than a site plan. Meisho Doto is painfully shy and spends her story attempting to become more like T.M. Opera O, who is, at the time of this survey, on the roof, four floors above her.
The Classroom (6 residents)
Daiwa Scarlet, Sirius Symboli, Curren Chan, Vivlos, Buena Vista and Fusaichi Pandora. Six cards from a catalogue of 143 are depicted in the room the institution nominally exists to operate. Expressed as an attendance figure, that is 4.2%, the sort of number a real school prints in bold at the top of a truancy letter.
The Trophy Hall (4 residents)
Of all the cards the school could have stood in front of a wall of trophies, it chose Sounds of Earth, whose real counterpart won two races in her life and finished second in seven graded ones.
The Infirmary (4 residents)
Agnes Tachyon occupies the infirmary, her established characterisation covers both available readings: she conducts unauthorised experiments on living subjects, and her own legs are fragile enough that racing is a medical risk. Neither reading involves receiving treatment.
Mejiro Ardan and Tsurumaru Tsuyoshi share the room with her. The fourth resident is Sasami Anshinzawa, an acupuncturist whose affiliation with the academy the wiki describes as questionable, and whose speciality is sasabari, a bloodletting practice the same wiki says the JRA banned in April 2022.
The one resident dressed for an emergency is not an authorised medical professional.
The Library (4 residents)
Zenno Rob Roy sits on Tracen's library committee and reads folklore about heroes, which is a stronger claim to a room than anyone else here has. Chrono Genesis is likewise a reader, in her case of racing history. Sweep Tosho is also in the library, she is training in magic under her grandmother and believes that winning races improves it. On that basis, a library visit is not eccentric. It is coursework.
The Office (3 residents)
Tazuna, Riko Kashimoto and Director Akikawa, at desks, indoors, during working hours. All three are Pal cards, and this is one of only two locations where every resident shares a card type. The other is Off Campus. There are eleven Pal cards in total. Five are off the premises, three are behind these desks, two are at the racecourse and one is in the infirmary. Not one of them is on the avenue with the students.
The Student Council Room (2 residents)
Red curtains, wood panelling, a sofa. Symboli Rudolf is student council president and Air Groove is one of her two vice presidents, so the casting is correct as far as it goes. The other vice president is Narita Brian, whose card puts her down at the racecourse, presumably voting by proxy.
The Entrance Hall (1 resident)
District 3: Dining and Shops
The low wing between the main building and the sports hall, pin 9. Twenty cards are in here buying things, cooking things, tending plants or hiding.
The School Store (5 residents)
Drink coolers, shelving, a counter at the back. Nice Nature's family runs a snack bar and her profile notes a habit of midnight snacking, so her position by the drinks is consistent with the source material. Matikanetannhauser is beside her. Aston Machan, Durandal and Dream Journey occupy the rear of the shop.
The Covered Benches (4 residents)
Smart Falcon, Seeking the Pearl, Hokko Tarumae and North Flight are all mid-performance, and the benches behind them are empty in all four cards. The nearest audience is five minutes northeast at the racecourse grandstand, where ten cards are standing around with nothing to watch.
The Cafeteria (3 residents)
Hishi Akebono, Tosen Jordan and Verxina. Three cards from 143 are depicted anywhere near food. The school got the casting right. Hishi Akebono's father is a cooking master, her mother teaches sweets-making, and her stated pleasure is feeding other people.
The Storeroom (3 residents)
Jungle Pocket led a group of ruffians in freestyle races before enrolling. Espoir City is defined by her defiance towards anyone in authority. Fenomeno makes three. The two most disruptive students in the year have been assigned, independently, to the only room on campus with no sightline from a corridor. Nobody at the school will confirm this was deliberate, which is roughly the answer we expected.
The Greenhouse (2 residents)
Glass panels, green frames, potted plants, a wicker armchair. Curren Bouquetd'or and Victoire Pisa have it to themselves. Six of their classmates are outside behind a hedge.
The Sofa Area (2 residents)
The Kitchen (1 resident)
Sakura Chitose O is a herbalist whose stated position is that food is medicine, and she has the room to herself.
District 4: The Sports Complex
Pins 7 and 8. The green-roofed hall and the training annex behind the tennis courts. 11 cards, none mid-exercise.
The Gym (6 residents)
Mihono Bourbon, Mejiro Ryan, Yaeno Muteki, Symboli Kris S, Royce and Royce, and Gentildonna. Four of the six are Power cards. The other two are Symboli Kris S, a Stamina card, and Gentildonna, a Speed card, who are in the weights room for reasons of their own.
The Multipurpose Sports Hall (5 residents)
King Halo, Kawakami Princess, Tap Dance City and Win Variation are positioned near the doors. Narita Top Road stands at the far end of a full court with the hall behind her. She is class president of the high school division, so the one student given sole use of a regulation sports hall is also the one most likely to have booked it correctly. Her closest rival and friend, Admire Vega, is at the opposite end of the campus, on a roof, at night.
District 5: The Racecourse
Pins 10 and 11, the northeast corner. This is the only district where the residents are dressed for the activity going on around them.
The Racecourse (10 residents)
Trainer Kiryuin
Narita Brian
Yamanin Zephyr
Gran Alegria
Blast Onepiece
Forever Young
Tsurugi Ryoka
Mejiro Ramonu
Duramente
Admire GrooveNarita Brian, Yamanin Zephyr, Gran Alegria, Blast Onepiece and Forever Young have the course in daylight. Mejiro Ramonu, Duramente and Admire Groove have it after the floodlights come on, lit from the side, with the stands behind them in the dark.
The Trackside Rail (5 residents)
Biwa Hayahide, Ikuno Dictus, Mr. C.B. and Cesario are at the fence beside the training course. Tanino Gimlet has the sunset variant and is the only one here who looks like she has been running rather than observing. Fifteen cards are on a footpath at the other end of the campus. Five are at the rail of an actual training course. This is a racing school.
District 6: The Dorms
Pin 12, the residential blocks off the southwest corner.
The Dorm Block (3 residents)
El Condor Pasa, Hishi Amazon and Fuji Kiseki, outdoors, hard blue sky, no shade. Three cards for the buildings in which the entire student body sleeps. The alley behind the main building has twice as many.
District 7: Off Campus
Outside the survey area entirely.
Off Campus (5 residents)
Light Hello at an event venue, Tucker Bryne on a beach, Hoshina Kiyoko at a hot spring inn, Casino Drive on a foreign street in strong sunlight, and Satake Mei outside a set of gates with a backpack on.
None of these five are students, and the card titles say so before the art does. A trainee's card reads [Tracen Academy]; theirs read [Event Producer], [Island Project Manager], [Yukoma Inn Proprietress], [『DREAMS』Director] and [URA Staff].
Seven cards in the survey carry a job title instead of the school. Five are out here. The other two are Tsurugi Ryoka, who at least made it to the racecourse, and Sasami Anshinzawa, who snuck into the infirmary.

Four locations account for 44 cards, 30.8% of the catalogue. Seventy-eight cards are outdoors, sixty are indoors, and five have left the premises. The two facilities with an explicit academic function, the classroom and the library, hold ten cards between them, or 7.0%. The alley and the storeroom together hold nine.
The campus guide board photographed above advertises a swimming pool, a soccer pitch, tennis courts and an outdoor stage. The survey found no R card at any of them.
Is this actually a housing crisis?
We have been calling this a distribution problem thus far.
Concentration in a market is conventionally measured with the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index: square each participant's share of the total, sum the squares, multiply by 10,000. Treating each location as a firm and each card as market share:
HHI = Σ (nᵢ / 143)² × 10,000 for i = 1..27 locations
= 507The 2023 US merger guidelines treat a market above 1,800 as highly concentrated. At 507, Tracen Academy's card distribution would clear a merger review without a second meeting.
It gets worse. Shannon entropy across the 27 locations comes to 3.120 nats against a theoretical maximum of ln(27) = 3.296, which gives a Pielou evenness of J = 0.947. Ecologists use that measure on species distributions and treat anything above 0.9 as a highly even community. The Gini coefficient of the residency distribution is 0.328 — marginally more equal than France's post-tax income distribution, which the World Bank put at 31.8 in 2023.
Four separate instruments, drawn from antitrust economics, information theory, population ecology and welfare economics, agree that the allocation of Umamusume support card backgrounds across Tracen Academy is statistically unremarkable.
Every one of them is computed across the 27 locations that have at least one card in them. A location with no cards contributes no share, no term to the sum, and no entropy. The swimming pool is not undersampled in these figures. It is absent from them.
Fifteen cards are standing on the same footpath, and the four instruments cannot see the pool at all.
A school is under no obligation to spread its students evenly across its own facilities. This one has built a swimming pool, a soccer pitch, four tennis courts, an outdoor stage, a gymnasium, a library and a racecourse, and its students are standing on the footpath.
