HP - Race Mechanics
A subsection of Race Mechanics.
HP
HP is a resource that is consumed throughout the Race. HP mainly affects 2 mechanics:
Firstly, there is a check at the start of the late-race to see if an Uma has enough HP to finish the Race while running at Top Speed. If she does not have enough HP, she will delay her Last Spurt or run at a lower Speed. See the late-race section for more info.
Secondly, if an Uma runs out of HP, she will rapidly decelerate to her minimum Speed.
HP Consumption
HP Consumption is calculated based on the formula below:
In the late-race, HP Consumption is further multiplied by the Guts Modifier.
Formula Variables
Status Modifier
Based on the Uma’s current status, she receives a multiplier to HP Consumption. There are currently 3 Statuses:
| Rushed | 1.6 |
|---|---|
| Pace Down Mode | 0.6 |
| Downhill Mode | 0.4 |
Ground Modifier
Based on the Ground Condition of the Track, there is a multiplier to HP Consumption.
| Firm | Good | Soft | Heavy | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turf | 1 | 1 | 1.02 | 1.02 |
| Dirt | 1 | 1 | 1.01 | 1.02 |
Stamina to HP Conversion
Stamina is converted to HP through the following formula:
Strategy Coefficient
| Front Runner | Pace Chaser | Late Surger | End Closer | Runaway |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.95 | 0.89 | 1.0 | 0.995 | 0.86 |
INFO
A common misconception about HP Consumption is that different Running Styles consume more HP. As seen in the formula, Styles such as Pace Chasers do not consume more HP, but rather inherently convert less Stamina to HP than other styles.
Guts vs. Stamina
While Guts provides more effective Stamina at lower values due to the Guts Modifier, it experiences a heavy diminishing return depending on Track length.
Here is a translated Chart of approximate Guts to Stamina conversion based on Track length.
For example, running an Uma with 180 Guts and 600 Stamina in an 1800m Track would be the same as running an Uma with 260 Guts and 497 Stamina. We can see that in this example, 80 Guts was approximately equivalent to 103 Stamina, or a rate of 0.78 Guts per Stamina.
However, if we had 600 Guts and 500 Stamina for the same 1800m Track, this would be equivalent to 675 Stamina and 260 Guts. In this example, 340 Guts was equivalent to approximately 175 Stamina, or a rate of 1.94 Guts per Stamina.
As demonstrated, Guts has a diminishing return on HP after a threshold.
