UL Season 2 Final Week Recap
Hello everyone, we have now reached the final recap of the season! How time flies by, huh? The standings have finalized, and we will have a handful of farewells and a handful of idols looking to dominate the Grand Concert! This week will be the final recap including every team, and so these teams will have a word from their captains as a way to say farewell to this season.
Last week I went 3-6 in picks, which is my season worst, and my final record will be 31-21-2, as I forgot to put my pick for VELO vs. FISH by accident. My co-writer went 2-7 as well, which means this week wasn't our best showing.
Like always, these words and thoughts reflect the writers' own views and personal beliefs. They do not reflect the view of the UL.

Final regular season standings
Fishy Miracle

Wow. Just, wow. We have witnessed history right here as FISH becomes the first ever undefeated team in the regular season. The invincible title now belongs to FISH, as they have achieved a perfect 10-0, and this week they handled business as they always have.
FISH vs. UMAP was discussed last week, but FISH vs. VELO gives us an opportunity to shout out Spice once more, as another huge performance by him as Christmas Daiwa Scarlet was the highlight in their stomping against VELO. Going from the 6th seed last season to a perfect 1st seed this season, they may have had the most dramatic glow up in the entire league.
Here's hoping for more amazing games from these fishies, and congratulations to everyone who made this impeccable season possible. By the way, congrats on winning the Oshi Award too, FISH!
"The vibes in this team are immaculate and I am so glad we got to finish the regular season with a Ten-O Showing. Now we go and finish what we started, even if you are not, Fishy Miracle is ready for playoffs this Autumn!"
— Benni
Cinderella Gray

It's been a great debut season for this team, as CGRY clinched their spot in the postseason in the final week of the season. They will wait in the winners' bracket with a respectable 6-4 record and will hope to make as much of an impact in their debut year as they can.
They clinched with a win over AMB, which had Mephis blow up with a 21 point performance this week to take down fellow playoff rivals AMB and assured their appearance in the winners' bracket. The hangover after clinching, however, hit them hard it seems, since they lost their final game of the season against SEB, but they can sober up soon.
While it's not been an easy season for CGRY, I believe they still have a shot to win the whole thing, as they show time and time again they are relentless like the gray-haired Umas that they represent. Good luck, Cinderella. Don't forget your slipper before you head out.
"Through the ups and downs, Cinderella Gray has endured and triumphed. I love this team and I hope y'all can watch us win it all!"
— Mephis
DraftNFamily

The family has finally arrived to the playoffs with a last week clinch thanks to results elsewhere in the league. Despite losing to 2MA in their first game, they still managed to avoid a doomsday scenario and clinched the winners' bracket handily thanks to the aid of their one true ace, SPEBERUS. They unleashed the 3 Special Weeks into a single draft and demolished the Party with immense force, thanks to those terrifying beasts and Yelow scoring 12 points with Ines Fujin.
A notable stat is that DNF are 5-0 with Adar and 1-4 without him, which is very important, of course, meaning that DNF should be starting him throughout all of playoffs. The team's members are all strong individually, of course, and I cannot wait to see how they perform on the big stage soon. Will the faith and strength in family prevail over everyone?
(Viewer discretion is advised for the captain's quote)
Everyone knows DNF is cool as fuck. But who knows what them's thinking? Who knows why theys making Umas? And why do we think about theys as fondly as we think of the mystical (nonexistent?) finished chains? Perchance.
I believe it was Adar who said "I can finally goon, and I call dibbs on fouling all over Juice." Bossk exhibits experience by breeding umas all day, but Bossk exhibits cope by stating "Harikitte Ikou!" Keep it up, Aknama!
When Keeby leaves his place of safety playing Oguri sloppa, he knows that he may SpeChoke. And yet, for Yelow who plays Fujin with great soul, a track becomes a mere suggestion of strategy. A hurdle that can be surpassed, much as an Uma feels any track with a corner is a track (Niigata 1000k isn't a track). We think of Neon as a hero, but he is simply a one percenter of a more privileged variety. The Rainplosionkind. Perchance.

Velocity

The reigning champions seem to have gotten drunk from the champagne after clinching their way to the winners' bracket of playoffs last week. There's nothing bad about celebrating too hard, but you're the champions and ought to show some character befitting as ones.
Ah well, can't be too harsh on the guys. Moi did well this season despite the mismanagement of the roster, with 8 pts on his beloved Gold Ship, and we had the debut of Ninjat and Julac, finally showing their faces this season. The most important thing despite the losses is Agnes Tachyon being on the board in the final week of the season thanks to Ninjat's 2 pt performance, and that is all that matters now. Now get some hydration and sober up, boys. You have a title to defend next week.

Team Ambition

Another new team heading to the postseason, it is THE ambitious team! AMB managed to clinch the playoffs after a close battle with their rivals CLUE, in which the most spectacular comeback in the history of UL took place, as they went from down 19-9 to winning 26-23 by the tiebreaker. That means they scored an astounding 17 points in 3 races thanks to two straight podiums from AMB, with the impressive efforts of Congee scoring 10 pts in the match in total being the highlight.
They fell to CGRY soon after, losing their chance to be in the winners' bracket, but they still have managed to clinch playoffs despite that. Maki Roll takes the honors as week's MVP for them with 12 pts scored in total, and now AMB must prove their will in the postseason. Good luck to you, ambitious youth.

Cluegi

The final team of the playoffs is none other than the newcomers CLUE. Ever since their 2-4 start to the season, they were on the verge of elimination, as they were struggling to find the right form against the big teams. However, they finally found ways to win and managed to earn their place thanks to a 3-1 finish to the season, clinching playoffs as the last team in.
Shadow has shown out the brightest in this final week, as he scored a total of 20 pts to close out the season and making a last minute charge to steal MVP from the frontrunning Sky. Despite the unfortunate collapse in their game against AMB, they ought to keep their chin up and know they can bounce back immediately once the playoffs begin.
The team that was overlooked in the beginning of the season has now made it to be one of the teams looking to win it all. May your Cluegi be the strongest of them all.

And now we have reached the graveyard of S2. These are the fallen teams this season, as they have failed to reach the playoffs. Here's hoping these guys run it back for next season for the S3 Play-ins, and congratulations to every player here for playing a full season. Remember the fallen.
Twoma

Unfortunately, 2nd place from last season will not have redemption this time. They lost important tiebreakers to their rivals AMB and CLUE, which ended up costing them a playoff berth. They finished the season tied with their rivals, meaning they were oh so close to continuing the redemption story.
They fought hard in their final week, as they were the first team out of the playoff bubble at the start of the week, and they did fight well till the bitter end. They won both games in dominating fashion, beating DDD and DNF with a special performance from Nycromancer scoring 16 pts across both games. Vaan redeemed themselves after the Runaway fiasco with an MVP game with New Year's Kitasan Black, and Mega did outstanding, scoring 12 points with Halloween Doto in their game against DNF. Unfortunately, they had to depend on results elsewhere and were eliminated as a result, showing how despite what you do to fix your mistakes, they will always haunt you.
Mega444 was 2MA's best performer by far this season. He enjoyed a season in which he scored 58 points, 21 podiums, and played 7 different umas as well. Such a hard fought season that sadly ended in an early exit. Here's hoping to see you again, bridesmaids.
"gwddppiw betrays none, but corner constellation can betray many. Does a mere rod alone assure that you'll achieve your dreams? actually there are more cases where u wit check, completing the bourbon chain is some consolation at least but alas what is .2 accel b4 perfect corner con oyl, to forget what oguri did to us would be akin to forgiving murder"

Super Evil Biterz

SEB enjoyed one last hunt before bowing out of UL with a sweep in the weekend. They defeated both VELO and CGRY in 7 games each and ultimately showed them how dangerous they are when backed into a corner. Their unorthodox drafting took these contending teams by surprise and defeated them thanks to the help of 12 points with Admire Vega from Alt and an amazing weekend from Cyrin, who scored 16 points in total. Man, they surely have filled that hole, huh?
They leave the season on a positive note, and I am wishing Ridjer a good possible retirement and hope he travels into the great heavens known as the commentator's booth.
Speaking of Cyrin, I am expressing a deep apology to this player after what I said in the season preview regarding them. They showed out hard this season, scoring 44 points, 18 podiums, and playing 10 different umas as well! Congrats to Cyrin for having an amazing season. And now, the Evil Biterz will go back into a deep slumber.
We came. We bite. We left.
It's been a rollercoaster of a season for SEB and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way.
From the bottom of my heart, I love every single one of my teammates and know that we couldn't have accomplished what we did without any of them.
Ibis Summer Dash, 53.7s. Thanks for the funnies!

Umaparty

At last, the party has finally come to an end. This final week for UMAP did not particularly go well, as they followed up their loss to FISH with another loss against DNF, which had probably the most infamous moment for UMAP happening to really put the cherry on top for this season.
This is referring to the unfortunate event of Charles using the entire timer to train Halloween Rice Shower, and he unfortunately ran out of time while taking too long picking out skills. This left UMAP short-handed for their final game of the season, and this nightmarish season came to an end just like that. Vin had a nice week with Tosen Jordan, scoring 9 points this week, if there is any consolation to take home from the party.
Speaking of which, Vin has ultimately become the best player from UMAP, scoring 38 points in total despite playing 6 games in the season, which results in a high 6.3 ppg for his season. Gotta hope there's gonna be an after party to make this up.
"I want to extend my thanks to my team for the amount of time and effort they put into this season, opening their schedules to play at times that are at times extremely awkward and all the work that went into preparation and practice. While the overall results did not go as well as we would have liked, I hope each member can take pride in knowing they did what they could in the circumstances."

Digi Dirt Devils

DDD entered their final week eliminated, so they could only play spoiler for the teams they were facing. Their first victims were CBG, who were coming off a dramatic win against DNF. They fell victim to the vicious Kawakami Princess by flo_nightly, who dashed away the hopes of CBG quickly with 2 wins back to back, and DDD dragged another team down into the elimination pits.
They lost their regular season finale against 2MA, but regardless of the low note ending to the season, DDD did well with the way they fought hard this season despite the significant resources gap they had compared to the other teams. Lenticular enjoyed an amazing week, scoring 13 with the gray-haired duo, as it adds an exclamation mark to his impressive season.
Lenticular certainly made an MVP case for himself, scoring 56 points, 26 podiums, and playing 7 different umas throughout the season. His performance has certainly been incredible considering how DDD debuted in their first season here. The Devils will now slumber beneath the sands.
I think the Digi Dirt Devils (DDD) season as a rookie team went phenomenal. Sure, we went 3-7, but not only did we not allow any of the teams to beat us in 4, getting double digits in all of our matches, we showcased that not everyone has to have the best of the best cards to be viably competitive. I am also proud to say that we really showed our chops as oshi players. My true belief is that any Uma is viable with the right amount of work done to them, and showcasing that with sleeper picks like Yukino Bijin, Kawakami Princess, Steampunk Winning Ticket and the like was awesome to see. We worked towards every advantage that we could, and even played around with a couple of disadvantages.
I know personally I would've wished that I could've played front more, but I am still happy with the performance we were able to put up as a team even with the crashes we endured (that S+ Digi still haunts me sometimes). I was incredibly happy to see our journey from Play-ins to regular season, and being able to make as many fans as we did among both the teams and the people watching and reading. We here at DDD absolutely enjoyed the support you guys gave; it made being a new team a lot less frightening than it would've been.
I would also like to thank Saya and Terumi as well. I noticed that they have used our Velo match and our AMB match as promotional material for the league. I'm glad we were able to help promote the Umaleague with our matches; it had warmed our hearts to see our team be used for that.
Speaking of the team, I couldn't be more proud of these players. From Yuri having a very dominant beginning to Lenticular becoming Sounds of Earth with the amount of 2nd place podiums he managed to accumulate. They have been the best team that I could ask for when it comes to the crazy antics I wish to play and throw upon them. I will continue to do my best to bring out all the abilities you guys have come next season. Every single one of you guys are what make DDD the team that we are. Luwu, Flo, Lyon, Yuri, Lent, Cam, and Breezy, I've said it before, but thank you for accepting my invitation to join my team. I do not think I could do this with anyone else.
Watch out for us during Grandmasters, my friends. The Digi Dirt Devils will be training, and I hope you all will be ready to get down and dirty with us :]

Cyborg

From first to last, CBG has fallen to a season worst 2-8 record after a dominant season 1. This season has been rough for this team, as they have gone to the tiebreaker 8 different times and only won 2 of those close games. This week adds on to that misery, as CBG once again loses two games in tiebreakers, encapsulating the season of heartbreak for this veteran team.
Veritea enjoyed an amazing final week at least, scoring 13 points with her Fine Motion and Curren Chan. Good to see that. Still, this season could have looked WAY differently had the coin fallen the other way, but that is how the game goes, unfortunately. Might need to work on the RNG parameters in the workshop.
Xo has the honors of being regarded as the best player for CBG, as he scored 38 points in the season with 15 podiums. It's time to go back to the blueprints to fix this cyborg up.
To sum up Cyborg's performance this season I would just use one word, "unlucky". Even ignoring the unluckiness of our races we were especially unlucky in both the coinflips and tiebreakers. Unlike last season where side one was relatively equal in win rate, this season heavily favored side two. For our coinflips we went 3-7 putting us on the unfavored side one 7 out of our 10 games. On top of that for tiebreakers we had 4 dirt, 3 sprints, 1 medium redshift, 1 mile c4, and 1 mile final straight. We had 0 turf c3 maps which are the most common draft types in the game and what we are best at. All this sums up to an extremely unlucky season for us.
Ignoring our unluckiness we still had an overall great time drafting as a team this season. We will be praying to Terumi to rig next season to give us a good rng during play-ins.

Signing Off
That'll be it for this season's recaps! This season has been so fun, and I am very happy to have worked with wonderful players throughout the season. This will be published alongside a playoff preview article that will go more in depth about the postseason.
I'd like to extend my thanks to every writer and editor I have worked with the entire season, especially to my dear friends Ramie, Jecht, Peter, Rewand, Apol, Terumi, Aclone, and Saya for helping me out with this. I'd also like to extend my gratitude to the other commentators and UL media staff members as well, like Benni, Bravo, Dropleto, Catbomb, and Ridjer, who helped behind the scenes and worked with UL all season long. This is Scarlet signing off, and thank you for reading our works!
