Umalator 101

Umalator is an unofficial community-created simulation tool for Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

It is mostly used for optimizing Umas in skill-selection, and to figure out what course Stamina requirements would be.

This section will explain how to use this tool.

Example Usage

In this scenario we will pretend that I have just completed a career on Christmas Oguri, in preparation for the Arima Kinen Champions Meeting.

We first start off by selecting the Uma (Christmas Oguri), you select Uma by clicking here:

Selecting Uma.

We then select the racecourse, and its race conditions (Nakayama 2500, Sunny, Firm and Winter)

In this scenario, I have just completed a career run, and I’m uncertain on how viable my end result is. To figure that out I will insert my stats, surface aptitude, distance aptitude, mood, style and style aptitude into the Umalator like this:

Selecting Stats.

Selecting Stats.

The next step then is to figure out which skills I want to buy. I can get an idea about that by doing a “Skill chart” simulation to see how strong each skill is for my Uma. Keep in mind this simulation does not take activation requirements into account when assigning the “Length” values.

The Skill Chart.

The Skill Chart.

After going through the skill chart list, and comparing it to what I got available to me in my shop at the end of my career, I then decide that these are the skills I most likely want to buy:

I will then run a “Compare” simulation to see if my Uma can survive the race with these skills.

After running the Simulation, it does not look like my Uma has sufficient Stamina to spurt, I will then re-evaluate my skill purchases and maybe drop “Inside Scoop”, which is inherently a gambling velocity skill to instead pick up “Nakayama Racecourse” green to increase my Stamina.

After removing Inside Scoop and adding Nakayama Racecourse to the Simulation, I will now redo the “Compare”, and as you can see from the picture below, we now got an 86% Spurt Rate, and our “Mean” and “Median” Length increased by 1,5. This is definitively the better choice.

Simulation 2.

Simulation 2.

I then go purchase the skills in the game, and I’m done.

In the Simulation, we can also see that if we had increased our Stamina to 800, we would have had a 100% Spurt and Survival Rate without needing to buy “Nakayama Racecourse” green skill, which we then can take into account if we decide to do more career runs to improve on our Ace.

TIP

If you are simming for Champions Meetings, I would suggest simulating “Normal” mood if you want consistent results throughout the whole meet, but you can also simulate “Great” mood if you want to optimize for the finals.
