What is a Skill?

Skills grant various bonuses (Velocity, Acceleration, Stamina/Recovery, etc.) to the Uma during a race.

They are purchased during a Career run by spending Skill Points (SP).

All non-Green Skills have a percentage chance to activate, based on your Wit stat. The formula is as below:

Skill_Activation% =(20min,1009000Wit)

Hints reduce SP cost by 10% per level for the first 3 levels, then by 5% for the last 2 levels, totalling up to a 40% discount.

Base Duration

Base Duration is the amount of time a Skill is active at a distance of 1000m. Base Duration scales linearly with the length of a Race at a rate of 10% per 100m: A Skill with a Base Duration of 2.4s has a Duration of 5.76s in a 2400m Race.

Types of Skills

Recovery

These Skills recover an Uma’s HP.

  • Examples: Swinging Maestro, Go-Home Specialist, Gourmand

Velocity

These Skills increase an Uma’s Target Speed for a duration.

  • Examples: Homestretch Haste, Inside Scoop, [Distance] Corners

Acceleration

These Skills increase how fast an Uma will reach their Target Speed for a duration.

  • Early-race Examples: Groundwork, Taking The Lead

  • Late-race Examples: Let’s Pump Some Iron!, Angling and Scheming, On Your Left!

Passive

These Skills add a static value to an Uma’s respective stat. Their effects can exceed the 1200 Stat Cap.

Additionally, Passive ("Green") Skills are not subject to a Wit Check for activation, outside of Lucky Seven and Super Lucky Seven.

  • Examples: Hawkeye, [Style] Savvy

Debuff

These Skills will afflict opposing Umas with various negative conditions, such as decreased speed and HP.

Lane Movement

These Skills amplify the effect of an Uma’s Lane Movement.

  • Examples: Prudent Positioning

Misc & Hybrid Skills (Other)

Focus and Concentration are two Skills that are not covered under any of these subcategories. These two skills are a modifier on an Uma’s Start Delay, effectively reducing the frequency of Late Starts.

INFO

There are “hybrid” skills that are covered under more than one category.

Some examples are Resplendent Red Ace, a hybrid Velocity and Acceleration Skill, and Keen Eye, a hybrid Debuff and Recovery Skill.

Skill Hunting From Cards

There are three ways to receive skills from a card:

  1. Event Chain
  2. Non-Chain Event
  3. Hints
  4. Random Events

The most reliable method is from an Event Chain, as they consistently show up to give their Skill Hints. Non-chain Events are unreliable and should not be relied upon for integral Skills.

Hints are the [!] mark on Support Cards that can give various Skill Hints. Skills from Hints vary in reliability, as these depend on the Support Card’s Hint Frequency and the size of the Hint pool. Tachyon Wit SR has a pool of four skills, while Gold Ship’s SSR cards have a pool of fourteen skills! Purchasing a skill immediately upon receiving a hint shrinks the Hint pool of the Support Card, increasing the odds of accessing unlearned skills, at the tradeoff of potentially higher SP cost.

Additionally, roaming Supports that aren’t in your deck have a chance to appear in your Career run and do a single Event. If stars align, you can complete a full chain this way!
